Gavin is currently beginning research on a follow-up volume to No Machos or Pop Stars which will explore the interconnections between the New York-based Theatre of the Ridiculous and popular music culture, detailing the cultural impact of theatrical players who became pop and rock musicians from the early 1970s into the 1980s.

Live Class will be the first large-scale project to critically assess the importance of UK art school education in the development of experimental performance and live art in the UK and internationally.

The project is being developed by Gavin with performance scholar and curator Heike Roms.
